Planned Giving with Alcott

Plan your gift, plant your legacy.

Planned giving is committing to the ethical principle of leaving the world better than you found it, in as much as is within your power. Continued access to mental health care and housing support for generations to come will depend on individuals, like you, who begin planning their legacy today. Alcott currently accepts two types of planned gifts: Gifts through your Will (Bequest), and naming Alcott as a beneficiary of your IRA Assets, or 401(K)/ 403(B) Retirement Plan.

Upon letting us know of your legacy commitment, we invite you to become part of the Tom & Penny Founders Circle, a group of donors who have generously provided planned gifts to Alcott.

We encourage you to consult with your financial advisor about what options might be best for you based on your long-term philanthropic goals and objectives. Information provided is general in nature. It is not intended to be, and should not be construed as, legal or tax advice. Alcott does not provide legal or tax advice.

Here are ways to get involved.

Join us in making a difference through hands-on support and community engagement.

Make “Welcome Home” Baskets

Many of our clients entering new permanent housing environments move in with nothing. Welcome Home baskets provide basic necessities to help support them as they begin a new season of stability and security.

Make Hygiene Kits

Hygiene kits are smaller bags of essential toiletry items. These are a crucial and practical way to support community members’ health and dignity. Alcott provides hygiene kits to community members based on need, including clients entering permanent housing, interim housing, and often to clients experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Teach at Our Interim Housing

Share a skill with residents. Examples of classes taught by volunteers include resume building, fitness, arts and crafts, yoga, and poetry classes. This opportunity requires a background check.

At Our Events

We have events throughout the year which often require the help of volunteers. This is a great opportunity for those who can only volunteer for short periods of time.
