Alcott’s unarmed crisis response teams are responding to hundreds of incidents per month. As the only nonprofit organization with teams in both programs, Alcott is currently positioned as a leader in unarmed crisis response services in Los Angeles.

One-year of providing unarmed crisis response services, UMCR has matured past its pilot season. Alcott’s UMCR teams are praised by community members and recognized by the City Council after witnessing the care, timeliness, and value provided by this much needed program.

Unarmed Crisis Response Teams Available in MacArthur Park

Effective April 1st, all of City Council District 1 has access to unarmed crisis response teams, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Now, when you dial 911, trained response teams can be deployed as an alternative to law enforcement to respond to non-urgent incidents involving people experiencing homelessness. These teams offer trauma-informed care and support for people in crisis, and are equipped with experienced mental health professionals and outreach teams for follow up engagement and case management.
